Idalia has moved off the southeast coast of North Carolina this morning and is still bringing tropical storm conditions to the eastern coast of North Carolina before moving out into the Atlantic throughout the day. Sustained winds are still at 60 MPH. Overnight it continued to down trees and bring flash flooding to areas of South Carolina (21,000 power outages) and North Carolina (32,000 power outages) and spawned at least one tornado around Goose Creek, SC. Power outages have started to drop in Georgia and Florida as crews work to get customers back online. Florida is down to 142,000 customers without power and Georgia down to 106,000. Perry, FL, and the small towns around Florida’s Big Bend – Cedar Key, Horseshoe Beach, Steinhatchee – appear to have taken the worst damages from Idalia due to storm surge and high winds. All other damages will likely be spread out and consistent with CAT 1 hurricane or tropical storm type conditions. Deployments will continue throughout the day but remain limited due to the population. Most Carriers are not reporting many claims thus far, but we will keep you notified.
